Welcome to English, Teachers’ Programme 4-6!

You will be studying English according to two syllabi: English, course code: 973G06 and English VFU (verksamhetsförlagd utbildning), course code: 973G08. Your studies are divided into the modules Language, Culture and Didactics.

Language studies will for instance cover pronounciation as well as some basic linguistic terms and notions. You will practice communicating in spoken as well as written English, and you will write a short essay.

The module Culture will introduce you to a basic understanding of social structures in Great Britain and The United States; you will also learn about their every day life and traditions. You will also read and discuss literature, with a focus on children’s books.

The Didactics and VFU module offers didactics seminars dealing with various aspects of teaching English (including those directly related to the VFU projects), which run in parallel throughout your studies with us.

The knowledge, insights and skills gained in your subject courses and the didactics seminars are to be applied in two VFU projects in schools.

You will then be reporting back on these projects in follow-up seminars and in written reports, to allow for feedback from both peers and teachers.

About the course grade

It is possible to get a VG grade for the entire course in one of two ways:

• 12 hp VG including language proficiency tests 1 and 2 or
• 14,5 hp VG including one of the language proficiency tests, and a G+ for the other language proficiency test
