REGISTRATION CHECKLIST FOR ARRIVING MASTER’S STUDENTS
1. Attend your Faculty's Information Day
The Information Day is an event intended to welcome you to Linköping University and provide you with practical information about studies and facilities.

2. Academic registration
You need to register for courses on your programme at the start of each semester. Registration opens from the first day of semester. It is compulsory to register on September 13th at the latest, otherwise you will lose your place.
First registration: during roll call or individually at a Student Services Desk*. Afterwards: via the Student Portal.
If you arrive before the start of semester: register for the orientation course to receive LiU Student card and LiU-ID. Remember to register for your programme as well once the semester starts!
If you did not have your Bachelor's degree at the time of application, you will need to present it to the Admissions Office before registration is possible; see 8.
3. Pick up your LiU card
Pick up your LiU card at a Student Services Desk one day after you have registered. The card will be marked with a valid thru date. Update your card at the start of each semester.
If you are a student at the Faculty of Health Sciences, you will also need to pick up a separate access card at LiU-Service, located by entrance 65.
4. Pick up your LiU-ID
Collect your LiU-ID at a Student Services Desk at the same time as you collect the card. You will need to activate your account and set a password, follow the instructions provided.
5. Check your LiU e-mail
All study-related information will be communicated to your LIU e-mail account (e-GO). Log in with your LiU-ID. Access it at http://e-go.student.liu.se.
6. Fill in your address
Make sure to fill in your Swedish address on Student portal (access via LISAM) to be able to borrow books from the library.
7. Check your course timetables
Check your timetables via http://www.student.liu.se/schema-och-lokaler?l=en. **
8. Present original documents
Admission is granted on condition that you present original documents confirming the qualifications that you used in support of your application. Original diploma and transcript should be presented both in original language and translated if that was required in your application.
Admissions Office staff is located on Campus Valla, in Terra building, take the stairs up from entrance 37. They will be available from August 15th.

Deadline for document presentation is November 1st.
9. Personal identity number
If your residence permit is valid for more than a year, apply for a personal identity number ("personnummer"). This facilitates your contacts with Swedish authorities (e.g. banks) and enables you to receive medical services on the same basis as the Swedes.
Apply at a Tax Agency (Skatteverket):
- Linköping: Kungsgatan 27
- Norrköping: Hospitalsgatan 23
Certificate from the Swedish national database ("personbevis") will be sent to you per post; it can also be collected at a Tax Agency. Note that it can take up to a few weeks to issue. Turn it in to the Student Service Desk to change the ID-number to the personal identity number.
10. Register for examinations
One last registration to keep in mind: you must sign up for each exam at least ten days prior to the exam period via the Student portal. Use the search engine to find exams. Read the leaflet "Examination guide" (it will be handed out in the Welcome packages) for more information.

Glossary
LiU-card: a plastic card with a photo that works as a student ID, key card to open doors, library card, copy card and bus card for travel between Linköping and Norrköping.
LiU e-GO: LiU e-mail account connected to your LiU-ID - all university students receive one and use it for study-related communication.
LiU-ID: a combination of first letters from your name and numbers that functions as a user name. Together with a password it is used to access computers on Campus and to log on to on-line services such as Studentportalen and your LiU e-mail account. You also need it for access to the free wireless network on campuses, Netlogon.
Mecenat logo: gives student discounts nationwide on various products and services. Starting the autumn semester 2012, Mecenat student discounts are included in your LiU card (Mecenat logo is the in the lower right hand corner of your card).
Nollekort: “the newcomer card” - is a temporary paper card that gives you access to certain student pubs and activities before you get your LiU card. Its colour depends on which faculty you are from.
Student portal/LISAM: an on-line service and learning platform where students can register for courses or exams, see study results, order transcripts of records, change home address, and more. It can be found at lisam.liu.se
T- or P-number: an ID-number created by the university for administrative purposes. Consists of your birthdate followed by a letter and tree digits. Civic registration number from the Tax Office replaces this number.
