"The programme is a perfect match for me"

Having a background in biomedical studies from “classical” study approaches at other universities in Sweden and Germany, the study approach of problem based learning (PBL) used at the Faculty of Health Sciences at Linköping University fits me very well. Independent search for relevant information motivates me to study. Additionally, the opportunity to work with two different research projects as a part of the programme emphasizes the later profession, and is a great break between courses.

Before starting the programme

My advice to future students is to contact study counsellors or present students regarding questions around the study programme. It is a very flexible programme, comprising both elective and mandatory courses, and therefore it is important to have at least an idea about what kind of elective courses would be interesting to attend. It might also be good to look at the research profile of the university, and contact potential project supervisors of laboratories that carry out research you are interested in. Lastly, the programme is international and partly cross-sectional in study background and therefore there is a great possibility to exchange experiences and learn about new cultures at the same time. This is an opportunity that I would gladly advice future students to take.
