Gender Research

Research and education of the Unit of Gender Studies put focus on meanings of gender in culture, society, economics, technology, knowledge production, and science from an interdisciplinary perspective. Gender is studied in its intersections with other social categories (ethnicity, sexuality etc.). Six sub programmes are pursued (click the titles for more information):

The Department of Gender Studies conducts interdisciplinary gender research, i.e. research which embraces both the humanities and the social sciences as well as reaches out to the biomedical and technical sciences on a collaborative basis. Gender in culture, economics, technology, biomedicine and science is analyzed from multiple perspectives.
