Stem Cells and Applied Regenerative Medicine, 7,5 credits

After having completed the course, the student shall have gained deeper knowledge about stem cell types, some commonly used biomaterials, and examples (potential) clinical applications of regenerative medicine approaches. The course comprises studies related to regenerative medicine on various types of stem cells in human body, basic biomaterials, host - graft interaction with the focus on immune- and infectious issues, and technologies used for tracking of implanted stem cells and their derivatives. Regulatory aspects of regenerative medicine, especially those related to transfer of experimental therapies from lab to the clinic will be included as well.

Specific admission requirements: At least three years of full-time undergraduate studies in a major subject area with relevance for Life Science, e.g. from faculties within medicine, technology/natural sciences, odontology, pharmaceutical science. The lowest acceptable grade from undergraduate studies is Pass.
Applicants with a degree from a non-Swedish university must enclose an official examination certificate of at least three years of full-time studies in subjects with relevance for Life Science, such as biology, chemistry, medicine or the like.
Documented knowledge of English equivalent to Engelska B/Engelska 6; i.e. English as native language or an internationally recognized test, e.g. TOEFL (minimum scores: Paper based 575 + TWE-score 4.5, and internet based 90), IELTS, academic (minimum score: Overall band 6.5 and no band under 5.5), or equivalent.
