Sustainability in the urban realm: city/neighbourhood/home, 7,5 credits

This course is grounded in current international research on the urban environment in for example postcolonial studies, political geography, policy studies, system studies and other urban studies. Empirical fields that will be covered include: urban infrastructures for transportation, energy, waste and water, planning and development of the build environment. Different policy and management approaches to the issues raised during the course will be presented and discussed. Concrete international case studies will be presented and discussed.
The course will focus on sustainability on and between different geographical levels of the urban realm: cities, neighbourhoods and homes.

Specific admission requirements: Applicants must, by the closing date for application, hold a bachelor’s degree/kandidatexamen (equivalent for example a professional degree) of at least 180 ECTS credits, including a 15 ECTS credit degree paper of equivalent. Relevant background is studies within natural science, social science, health science, humanities or engineering that relate to the environmental, social or ecenomic aspects of sustainable development.
Documented knowledge of English equivalent to Engelska B/Engelska 6; i.e. English as native language or an internationally recognized test, e.g. TOEFL (minimum scores: Paper based 575 + TWE-score 4.5, and internet based 90), IELTS, academic (minimum score: Overall band 6.5 and no band under 5.5), or equivalent.
