Programming in R, 6 credits

R is a popular open source language that incorporates enourmous amount of packages used for computations in different branches of science. The target group of this course are students that have already worked in some programming language and but need to learn a language that is suitable for implementing scientific applications. The course goes rapidly through standard programming concepts such as variable types and loops and focuses on more advanced topics such as parallel programming and performance enhancement.

Specific admission requirements: For acceptance to the course, the student should have passed courses covering a total of 60 ECTS in statistics, computer science, mathematics, applied mathematics, engineering or equivalent and including a basic course in programming in languages like C, Java, Python, Matlab.

Documented knowledge of English equivalent to Engelska B/Engelska 6; i.e. English as native language or an internationally recognized test, e.g. TOEFL (minimum scores: Paper based 575 + TWE-score 4.5, and internet based 90), IELTS, academic (minimum score: Overall band 6.5 and no band under 5.5), or equivalent.
