Physiotherapy
Exchange students in the Physiotherapy Programme can design their own study plan. The plan usually combines clinical placement and/or research projects.
This programme is taught in Linköping.
Orientation week
Every semester at the Faculty of Health Sciences starts with a compulsory Orientation Week. You need to be present for the duration. This programme introduces international students to the Swedish health care system, and provides information about practice in clinics and health care centres and working with Swedish patients.
The Orientation Week is designed to help exchange students gain as much as possible from their studies at the Faculty of Health Sciences.
The Orientation Weeks 2013/2014 will be held
- 16-23 August for the autumn semester (Friday to Friday)
- 10-17 January for the spring semester (Friday to Friday)
Clinical modules
Exchange students can choose clinical modules. Students acquire 1.5 credits for each completed week of study. The following clinical modules are usually offered:
- Internal Medicine
- Interprofessional Practice - Training Ward (Orthopaedic Surgical Care)
- Primary Care
- Elderly Care
Courses
The following courses are available. The language of instruction is Swedish or English.
Theoretical modules in English
Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Rehabilitation - An International Course, 7.5 credits
Given once a year, in autumn. Full-time study.
Literature Studies within an eligible area in Physiotherapy, 7.5 credits
Designed individually. The course can run in autumn or in spring. Part-time (can be combined with a clinical module).
Quality Improvement and Learning in Clinical Practice, 4.5 credits
The course is given twice a year the first two weeks of the semester (after the Orientation week). Full-time study.
Theoretical modules in Swedish
Dizziness and Disequilibrium, 7.5 credits
Part-time, starts beginning of April.
Lower Back Pain - Examination and Clinical Management, 7.5 credits
Giwen twice year, end of August until beginning of November and end of January until end of March. Part-time study (can be combined with a clinical module).
Pain and Pain Management, 7.5 credits
Given twice yearly; beginning of November until beginning of January and beginning of April until beginning of June. Part-time study (can be combined with a clinical module).
Physical Training as Medical Treatment, 7.5 credits
Starts end of January until end of March. Part-time study (can be combined with a clinical module).
Sports Medicine, 7.5 credits
Part-time, starts end of August until beginning of November.
Research projects
Students can work on individual research projects during part of the semester. The length of these projects will vary depending on student needs and supervisor availability.
Students acquire 1.5 credits for each completed week of study.
