Medicine

In the Medical Programme, exchange students can combine theoretical modules with clinical work.
The exchange period is normally for three months. Students can, depending on modules available, design their own study plan but must follow these guidelines:

  • Attend the orientation week, which provides an introduction to hospital practice and working with patients.
  • Study at least one theoretical module. In these courses, international students are integrated into teams with Swedish students. These teams receive scenarios/tasks that they solve together.
  • Students acquire 1.5 credits for each completed week of study.

Orientation week

Every semester at the Faculty of Health Sciences starts with a compulsory Orientation Week. You need to be present for the duration. This programme introduces international students to the Swedish health care system, and provides information about practice in clinics and health care centres and working with Swedish patients.
The Orientation Week is designed to help exchange students gain as much as possible from their studies at the Faculty of Health Sciences.

The Orientation Weeks 2013/2014 will be held

  • 16-23 August for the autumn semester (Friday to Friday)
  • 10-17 January for the spring semester (Friday to Friday)

Clinical modules can take place outside Linköping, for instance in Norrköping, Motala and Finspång. In certain circumstances we also need to place students outside the county borders, meaning that the student will need to live in another town during the week.  Accommodation is free as is transporation to/from Linköping once a week.
