Management Control Systems, advanced course, 10 credits

The course introduces the nature of management control, its background, definition and theoretical framework. We will focus on three important perspectives of management control. First the management control environment that helps us to understand strategies and behavior in organizations. We learn how to design responsibility centers and goal congruent transfer prices. Secondly we study the management control process; strategic planning, budgeting and analyzing. We also stress the problems of performance measurement and management compensation. Finally we study variations in management control such as different strategies, service organizations, multinational business and projects.

Specific admission requirements: A Bachelor´s in Business Administration or Economics with at least 90 ECTS credits/60 credits points i.e. three semesters of studies in business administration or economics (equivalent).
