IT Support

The IT Support Department consists of the LiU IT Helpdesk and PC Support. We offer Linköping University employees and students a natural point of contact for IT support. Our focus is on the needs of the individual user for support and assistance in the IT area.

LiU IT Helpdesk

University employees and students are offered IT support via telephone and e-mail through the LiU IT Helpdesk. The Helpdesk functions as the primary point of contact for all types of interruptions to service, support queries or requests for changes within the IT environment. The primary duty of the Helpdesk is to remedy any incidents disrupting the work of the end user.
The Helpdesk functions as the users' primary contact channel with LiU IT. By having all communication with LiU IT go through the Helpdesk, we can offer speedy contact with the right person for different types of issues relating to both support and assignments or orders.

PC Support

The LiU IT support organisation offers PC support for workstations and peripheral equipment on site with the customer. Departments and divisions at the University may sign agreements on an annual basis for regular support relating to maintenance of their computer environments. Every agreement designates one technician who is chiefly responsible for case queues, booking and liaison with the customer's contact person.

It is also possible to hire technical consultants on an hourly basis for isolated, temporary matters or to strengthen internal support activities for shorter periods.

  • Examples of tasks performed by PC support:
  • Installation of new hardware and/or programs
  • Support in purchasing hardware and software
  • Upgrading of hardware and/or programs
  • User support
  • Connection to new/other printers
  • Inventory of computer environments
