Research Financing and Alumni
External research grants are becoming ever more important for Linköping University. The Grants Office is an organisation that supports LiU's researchers in their goal to increase the proportion of external grants.
Grants Office
The Grants Office is tasked with providing an overall picture of current and upcoming announcements of research grants, actively seeking new financiers, linking researchers with financiers, providing internal education on project economics, etc. and giving advice and support in matters of project implementation.
Grants Office can also provide examples of good application and coordinate large-scale announcements.
Fundraising
Outside of the traditional research financing, LiU cooperates with companies, foundations and private persons in order to finance research and education. Fundraising is specifically this type of external financing. The contributions can be anything from gifts to contracts pertaining to strategic research alliances. The national fundraising campaign Expanding Excellence, which ended in 2010, raised SEK 272 million for Linköping University. Though the campaign has ended, the fundraising work continues. LiU is also working with fundraising in LiU Fund of U, a fund in which LiU alumni and other associates can contribute to the future of LiU.
