Tensor Voting in the Context of Medical Image Analysis

Lecture - CMIV
Lecture by Daniel Jörgens. Perceptual organisation techniques aim at mimicking the human visual system for extracting salient information from noisy images. Tensor voting has been one of the most versatile of those methods, with many different applications both in computer vision and medical image analysis. Its strategy consists in propagating local information encoded through tensors by means of perception-inspired rules. Although it has been used for more than a decade, there are still many unsolved theoretical issues that have made it challenging to apply it to more problems, especially in analysis of medical images. In this talk we will give a brief introduction to the method of Tensor Voting. We especially point out the motivation for its extension in the context of possible application fields like DTI or blood vessel segmentation and thereby outline approaches that try to take apparent issues into account.

CSPR seminar: Climate change in the classroom

Seminar - Centre for Climate Science and Policy Research
Lecturer:Per Gyberg, Tema M Per will present insights from the on-going research project “Sustainable development as an area of knowledge – the education system's role in bringing up the future citizens”. This project investigates sustainable development as an area of knowledge within compulsory, secondary, and tertiary education (teacher training). The investigation focuses on how the area of knowledge is organized with regards to the plasticity of the concept ‘sustainable development’, its problem definitions as well as the education programmes’ qualifications and methods for dealing with sustainable development. At the seminar, Per will lead a discussion on what the findings with regards to sustainable development could imply for climate change.
