LiU och industrin i nytt FoU-centrum
ABB, Saab, Scania och GM är samarbetspartners till LiU i ett nystartat centrum för forskning och utveckling kring reglerteknik och sensorinformatik i industrirobotar, flygplan och fordon.
Linköping Center for sensor informatics and control (LINK-SIC) är ett av de så kallade Industry excellence center som nu startas på initiativ av statliga Vinnova. Målet är att skapa ett långsiktigt samarbete inom viktiga områden för svensk systembaserad industri.
Tyngdpunkten i LINK-SIC blir tre forskargrupper vid Institutionen för systemteknik: reglerteknik under ledning av professor Lennart Ljung, sensorinformatik (prof. Fredrik Gustafsson) och fordonssystem (prof. Lars Nielsen).
Viktiga forskningsfrågor inom området handlar om design av sensorsystem, övervakning och diagnos, autonoma system och modellbaserad kontroll. För industrin handlar det om att möta ökade krav på säkerhet, kostnadseffektivitet och prestanda.
De deltagande företagen hör hemma i den sektor av svensk industri som arbetar med systembyggande och systemutveckling. Vid starten medverkar fem bolag i centret: ABB Corporate Research, ABB Robotics, Saab AB, Scania AB och GM Powertrain Sweden AB.
Omkring 12 doktorander och postdoktorer beräknas arbeta i centret.
Industry excellence center är pilotverksamheter för långsiktig uppbyggnad av innovativa FoU-centra vid lärosäten, och där industrin går in med en extra hög medfinansiering. Inblandade parter satsar drygt tio miljoner kronor per år under upp till tio år, varav 1,75 miljoner kronor kommer från Vinnova, 3,5 miljoner från lärosätet och 5,25 miljoner från näringslivet.
