Tough housing situation with jam-packed emergency housing
The housing situation has become volatile with fully booked shelters at Bostadspoolen (Student Accommodation) at Kårservice. However there are alternatives for those who can quickly put together a group for shared housing.

On Tuesday, Annika Samuelsson, student housing agent at Kårservice, jumped into action to provide more emergency student housing. The students were extremely appreciative for a mattress on the floor.
“We now have 41 extra places. Yesterday it was fully booked as it will probably be tonight,” she says.
In other words, a desperate situation. Are there any vacancies at all?
“Yes! There are actually. We have some lodgings and second-hand housing in our database, and even a house. Those students that can quickly find other students to live with have a better chance, larger apartments are available.
Best tips for those without housing?
“Do not be so focused on Linkoping, for example check out Mantorp/Mjölby which lies within reasonable commuting distance. I have just checked Mjölby’s situation and there are 15-20 apartments vacant,” says Annika Samuelsson.
“Of course Most people want to live as close to the university as possible, but they should be able to withstand a few months of commuting.
Why is it so difficult to supply sufficient student housing?
“It is always difficult at the beginning of autumn, many programmes begin and we have a lot of exchange students here. However in the spring, housing is always available. It means that the housing industry deems it unimportant to build more housing, says Annika Samuelsson.
