Publishing in science
This time we have invited Prof. Anthony Turner from Linköping University and Editor-in-Chief of Biosensors & Bioelectronics and David Lawrence from the University library. David Lawrence will speak on copyright and plagiarism. On the topic of authorship Prof. Anthony Turner will will share his experience as an Editor as well as discuss conflicts that may occur for young researchers when it comes to authorship, but he will also give information on the topic of authorship for the special case of patents.

Forum Forum and Junior Faculty Joint Conference
Experience the synergy of two young organizations in LiU - Forum Scientium and Junior Faculty. Forum Forum is aiming at strengthening the local network between influential academic researchers or companies and the research groups represented by the members of Forum Scientium. Junior Faculty will present their vision on the local communication and collaboration between young scientists – both established and the new-coming, and will tell how researchers can benefit from it.

LiU Junior Faculty Career Day 2012: Industry – Academy Bridge
A full day devoted to the career options for junior researchers, both in academia and industry. Take the opportunity to learn from the experience of researchers about collaboration between academia and industry, and the differences working in academia and in industry. What does industry expect from a young researcher? What is the difference in research activity being in academia and industry? What is the university vision on the collaboration between academia and industry? How is it supported by the main funding agencies? These are some of the questions that will be addressed during the JF Career Day.

How to write a successful grant application?
Join us to learn more about how to write a funding proposal. Young researchers that already succeeded in getting funding will provide their advices and recommendations. Furthermore, representatives of the main funding agencies will express their opinion and give valuable recommendations.

How to create a sustainable research group?
Enjoy the possibility to meet and listen to the young researchers, who already succeeded to create their own research group. Pedagogical meriting seminar
According to the new employment order, pedagogical skills should be considered as important as any other merit when it comes to promotion or employment. But how does it work in reality? Come and listen to the pro-dean of your faculty and the Director of CUL on how they look upon your teaching activities, and the balance between research and teaching. We will also discuss which type of pedagogical activities junior researchers should focus on and how they should be documented.

LiU Junior Facultys Career Day 2011
A full day on the topic of career options for junior researchers, both in academia and in industry. Take the opportunity to have an eye to eye meeting with a career coach to dicuss your future career. Learn how to communicate your competence. Hear about the new career paths at LiU and the work of the LiU appointment boards. The afternoon offers a seminar on the double role as a teaching researcher and a researching teacher and a grand finale: a very interesting seminar on academic leadership by University Chancellor Lars Haikola. There will also be representatives from various companies and organisations presenting their activities.

Bohdan Sklepovych, strategic communicator at LiU, discusses strategies in project design in light of funding opportunities.
In the face of globalization and increased competition, as well current governance concerns shifting to broader issues regarding societal and sustainable needs, successful project development requires greater focus and balance in terms of contextual consideration. Bohdan plans on highlighting strategies helpful in project design and in aligning research needs and grantsmanship in light of funding opportunities, and concerns surrounding joint programming and the future of grand challenges.

LiU-JF Nobel conference December 10
Junior researchers presented recent work and disussed possibilities for future collaborations with other junior researchers within existing and plausible upcoming projects.
Career day November 26
Presentations and exhibitions for Junior Researchers on career opportunities within and outside the academic world. The first annual Junior Faculty Prize for sustainable research environments were awarded professor Björn-Ola Linnér.
The importance of pedagogical merits for positions in academia,September 24.
The prerequisites for tenure positions at LiU were discussed with Randi Hellgren (PA) and Ellinor Edwardsson-Stiwne (CUL).
Grant Workshop February 26 and March 12
Junior researchers were allowed to bring their preliminary research proposals to senior evaluators for help to make better grant applications. The first day, February 26, there were presentations from reviewers in different scientific boards as well as information from Grants Office. Then a initial group discussion took place about the grant applications. The second day, March 12, further discussions were made within the groups and a final presentation by Per Dannetun, Grants Office.
Media training workshop January 29
Björn Carlgren, media trainer and journalist, trained several junior researchers to be better in approaching media. Two important lessons were to be prepared beforehand when meeting journalists and to be able to summarise the findings in just 1 minute and 30 seconds.
