Religionsvetenskap/etik, med särskild inriktning mot tillämpad etik.

Forskningsinriktning
Min forskning idag behandlar bl a frågor om globalisering och global rättvisa. Vilka följder har globaliseringen och den minskade betydelsen för nationalstaten för den etiska diskussionen om rättvisa? Vilka etiska konsekvenser har den ekonomiska globaliseringen? Här har jag bl a studerat hur Världshandelsorganisationens skydd för ickemateriella rättigheter (intellectual property rights) kommer i konflikt med rätten till hälsa. En annan fråga som jag tar upp är vilken betydelse historien har för dagens förhållande mellan rika och fattiga: är gottgörelse för kolonialism nödvändigt för global rättvisa?

Min forskning har haft två huvudinriktningar. Den ena är tillämpad etik, i synnerhet arbetsetik, IT-etik, global etik/teorier om global rättvisa samt vårdetik. Den andra huvudinriktningen rör etikens principfrågor och teologisk etik, främst då människovärdesprincipens tillämpning och ställning i religiös och filosofisk tradition och frågor om religiös, kulturell och etisk pluralism. Det går dock knappast att dra någon skarp gräns mellan dessa två inriktningar. När man sysslar med tillämpad etik ställs man naturligen inför etiska principfrågor och vice versa. IT-etiken utgör ett bra exempel. Här har jag bl a kommit in på frågor om innebörden i begreppet ansvar, villkoren för etisk argumentation (i samband med förslag att utforma etiska expertsystem), innebörden i begreppet personlig integritet samt integritetens moraliska betydelse.

Jag har deltagit i ett EU-finansierat projekt med titeln: Ethical Dilemmas due to Prenatal and Genetic Diagnostics (EDIG). I projektet deltog åtta europeiska psykologi- och etikinstitutioner.

Jag leder projektet Possibilities of Religious Pluralism. Projektet är mångvetenskapligt och är ett samarbete mellan svenska forskare och forskare vid University of Science Malaysia i Penang.

Fr o m 2009 deltar jag i ett nytt projekt finansierat av EU:s sjunde ramprogram. Projektet har rubriken Personalised Health Monitoring- Ethics, och syftet är att studera de etiska följderna av en ökad IT-baserad hemsjukvård.

Undervisning

Min undervisning är huvudsakligen inriktad mot etik och tillämpad etik. Jag ansvarar för kursen Globalisation and Global Justice inom mastersprogrammet Applied Ethics. Inom det religionsvetenskapliga programmet undervisar jag på kurser i etik på D-nivån och B-nivå. Jag har också undervisning inom andra områden av den tillämpade etiken, såsom teknik och etik, IT-etik och vårdetik.
