The "Master's Programme in Language and Culture in Europe" is a master's programme offered by the Department of Language and Culture. The programme is integrated into the department's research environment, "Graduate School in Language and Culture in Europe".

The Master’s Programme in Language and Culture aims to develop the students’ capacity for informed analysis of the history, development and characteristics of the European languages and literatures. Concentrating on the major epochs and languages, it promotes a broad, interdisciplinary competence in linguistic, literary and anthropological theory and method and is devoted to the study of language processes and literary texts seen in their cultural context. The materials studied may range from everyday conversations to novels, plays, poems, and films. Though it is a two-year, full-time study programme divided into two independent parts, on completion of the first year students are eligible for a one-year Master of Arts degree.
