Research
Important areas for research within the Graduate School are interactional linguistics and conversational research; intertextuality, which we understand as the interplay between texts which have a demonstrable and dynamic relationship with each other; translation, both in a literal and a figurative sense (the meeting of cultures); and topolinguistics, the study of the cultural landscape as a condition for and in part a product of language practitioners. An area under development is cultural stylistics, which presupposes collaboration between literary scholars and linguists, for example concerning narration and language variation.
