Security Link

Security and Emergency Management

The vision is to establish a world-leading platform for strategic interdisciplinary research in crisis management, safety and protection of the public infrastructure. The research combines technology and ethics, with knowledge of decision-making and management.

Security Link consists of a consortium from Linköping University and the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI), in conjunction with complementary expertise from KTH Royal Institute of Technology. Security Link aims to cover all areas listed in the call and Vinnova’s NRA Security Report.

Security Link is a platform for strategic interdisciplinary research, with a vision to create world-leading Centres of Excellence that are unrivalled nationally and operate within crisis management, security and infrastructure protection. The proposed research focuses on prioritized social benefits, which include support for decision-making within risk and threat areas, infrastructure protection (airports, ports, transport systems, large public events, nuclear plants, etc.) and disaster management.

The work is structured in the following areas: secure wireless communications, advanced sensors and detectors, sensor & information fusion, decision support and coordination of crisis management, and related ethical issues. The Centre applies for SEK 20 million a year, following an initial start up phase. The bulk of the funding will be used for recruitment of new services at all levels, prioritising shared services and multidisciplinary projects.

Total SEK 30.4 million between 2010-2014
