Many highly ranked publications this year

In our three portfolios for Present, Transformers and Former members you can find all publications with Linköping as affiliation. The ones with a "gold star" are considered as highly ranked (according to the Norwegian system). If there is a publication that is not included, or if there is a journal which you think should be considered highly ranked, please send me an e-mail and I will forward it. You will find links to the portfolios at our first page.
For 2011 present members have so far 25 journal articles of which 8 are highly ranked.
For 2010 present members had 27 journal articles of which 7 was highly ranked.

This Friday October 14, at 13.00 in Nils-Holger salen Campus US, Fredrik Agholme will defend his excellent thesis ”Wnt-signaling and metaphyseal bone healing”. If it pass Fredrik Agholme  will become doctor number 100 within Forum Scientium. It is eleven years since the first PhD exam within Forum Scientium was defended by Helena Theander (Amandusson) October 20, 2000. Right now Forum have 65 PhD students and five "Transformers". The latter have a prepostdoc support of 35-50% during maximum 12 months. They should be a support to the PhD students and at the same time produce excellent publications. Forum Scientium has PhD students both at HU and LiTH, and at all three Campus. An important part is to keep a good contact with former members. That is done by visiting them at their present workplace. Forum Scientium had during its first eight years a support from SSF. Since 2008 it has support from VR. During all years it has had a very good support from Rector, Faculties, Supervisors and PhD students. On this home page you can find more info on eg activities, research projects, examinations so far, Were the former members work nowadays, and much more.

The AgoraLink spinning programme intends to improve the understanding of different work conditions in industry, health care, and academia.  Now we launch the possibility for 8 PhD students to make a spinning visit to a company, health care organization, or an international research and innovation centre as part of their research education. For this we give a grant of 70 000 SEK that will cover travel costs (travel, lodging, and expenses). Deadline February 15, 2011.

Statistical methods in experimental science, 3-4,5 hp

This course in Statistical Methods in Experimental Science will be given by Prof Anders Grimvall sometime between week 19-21 (exact start and end date will be decided by the participators and the examiner). The course has been given six times before and the participating PhD-students have been very satisfied with it.

Focus will be on the participators own problems, their own data will be used during the course. The prerequisites are at least a quarter of a year of Mathematics including at least three weeks of Statistics, but also participators with more knowledge are welcome. The course will be given in English. The course includes lessons, 2-3 hours each, at 6-10 occasions.
