Research
My research is focused on proteins and their structure. My main tool is Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectroscopy, a very useful tool for detecting atomic resolved structural information and dynamics on different timescales in the liquid state. I prepare all my samples myself which includes gene cloning, expression of isotopically labeled protein in E.coli and protein purification using different types of chromatography.
Current projects
Activity Regulation of the Kinase Domain of EphB2
One of the proteins I am working on is the kinase domain of Ephrin Type-B receptor 2. To investigate activity regulation of the kinase domain of EphB2 we uses the CPMG (Carr-Purcell-Meiboom-Gill) experiment to detect atomic resolved millisecond dynamics in different mutants with different degrees of activity.
Peak INTegration (PINT)
PINT is a software for evaluation of NMR data where correct integration of peak intensities are crucial for the correct interpretation of the experiment. The simple format of the input files, the possibility to compare the fitted line shapes to the experimental data, the estimation of uncertainties in peak volumes and the many included additional calculation options allows for a very fast and streamlined analysis of relaxation data and NOESY experiments.
Development of new NMR pulse sequences
For a more complete understanding of protein structure and dynamics new NMR experiments need to be designed. I am working on developing new relaxation experiments for detection of different kinds of dynamics and also pulse sequences for detection of information from targets not possible to detect by usual NMR techniques.
