LIST workshops
Since 2009, LIST has arranged annual workshops with invited speakers sharing their expertise on different topics.
2012, we tested a new form of workshop, scientific "speed-dating". The motivation behind this was to give researchers from Linköping University the possibility to enlarge their network for scientific cooperation by meeting and briefly interacting with colleagues in a compressed lunch event.
The success of the event (more information on this below) motivated us to arrange a similar workshop in April this year. At this event, we gave selected researchers from LiU the opportunity to present their research in a short 5 minutes “elevator pitch” to colleagues from different departments. The speakers were asked to focus on their main research interest, what they can offer and what they would need from a collaborator. The idea behind this lunch event was to create the opportunity for researchers at LiU to expand their network for interdisciplinary scientific collaboration.
After the presentations (approximately 15) there was time for more detailed discussion, while having sandwiches, coffee, cake and fruits. Everybody interested was welcome to listen to the presentations and to participate in the get-together afterwards, however registration was required.

List of speakers (some incl. presentations):
Anna Strömberg (IMH, Nursing Science)
Henrik Ahn and Jacek Baranowski (IMH, Cardiovascular Medicine)
Jan-‐Åke Larsson (ISY, Information Coding)
Lasse Jensen (IMH, Cardiovascular Medicine)
Martin Mak (IFM, Biosensors and Bioelectronics Centre)
Mehrdad Rafat (IMT/IKE, Biomaterials Engineering)
Petter Dyverfeldt (IMH/CMIV Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance)
Stefan Holmlid (IDA, Human-‐Centered Systems)
Mikael Peolsson (Hälsans nya verktyg)
A questionnaire was distributed to evaluate the outcome of the meeting and the collected results can be

The 1st LIST scientific speed-dating event was a full success.
In October, LIST had invited senior scientists from different faculties at LiU to meet new colleagues in a scientific speed-dating format. The main part of the event were ten times ten individual meetings of five minutes each, during which two researchers met and had the opportunity to talk about their main interest, what they can offer a collaborator and their own needs from a collaboration. The meeting schedule, which assigned which colleagues each participant met, had partly been arranged based on initial feedback from the participants.
The whole event lasted two hours including lunch. A questionnaire was distributed to evaluate the outcome of the meeting and the collected results can be found here (
link to the table).
LIST received very positive feedback to this initiative, both from questionnaires and from personal communication before and after the meeting, and we are planning to organize more events of this kind during 2013.
