A thoracic surgeon treats diseases and injuries in the thoracic cavity, the chest wall, and the diaphragm. Research in thoracic surgery at LiU focuses on cardiac metabolism in connection with surgical procedures, as well as mechanical backup hearts as support in serious heart failure.
