Liver, bile ducts, and pancreas

The liver, bile ducts, and pancreas are the three organs that, apart from the alimentary canal, are responsible for digestion in the body. Gallstones are an often symptom-free affliction but cause pain in one in every five who suffer from them. In serious cases, inflammations develop that can block the bile ducts and even cause damage to the liver and pancreas. All three organs can also be afflicted with cancers that are hard to treat.
