Burn care

Burns often have dramatic consequences for those afflicted. Care of the injured requires extensive resources. Even if three of every hundred patients still die as a result of their burns, fatalities have steadily lessened over the last 20 years. But those who survive being burned can bear indelible wounds both on their skin and on their soul. It is unknown to what extent burns can affect illness in those afflicted, as is how their care consumption changes after being burned. The answer will be provided through an extensive description of all patients who have been hospitalized in Sweden between 1997 and 2007 as a result of burn injuries.
