Nerve cell development
The nervous system is unbelievably complicated and contains around 10,000 different types of nerve cells. Special regulatory genes control which ones are built. Researchers at LiU are working to increase understanding of these mechanisms and, by extension, deepen the comprehension of how our brains form. They use a classic genetic modelling system – the fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster).
