Nursing science in cancer therapy
Nursing of cancer patients is a comprehensive area covering the entire period of thepatient’s diease from diagnosis until treatment and follow-up is discontinued or end-of-life care. Research in the field is very important, since care of patients with cancer is becoming more and more complex, and great advances are being made concerning different therapy and nursing care strategies.
Intensive treatment with surgery, radiotherapy, cytostatics, biotherapy and hormone treatments lead to follow-up symptoms and sside effects which place great demands on the specific form of nursing care. At LiU, research focusing on registration, treatments, and assessing symptoms and secondary effects is in progress.
