Cognitive Science Research at Linköping University is conducted in a number of different research groups at several institutions:

  • Cognitive psychology and disability research at the Department of Behavioural Sciences and Learning (IBL).
  • Cognitive systems, distributed and situated cognition, artificial intelligence, computational linguistics, IT and Learning, Interaction design and human-computer interaction at the Department of Computer and Information Science (IDA).
  • Conversation Research at the Department of Culture and Communication (IKK) and at Child Studies.

A characteristic of the cognitive science research at Linköping University is the close connection between applied and theoretical research, where we not only see applied research as a scientific activity where basic discoveries are made practically useful, but also that the result of applied research has a direct impact on theory development. We therefore have a very active cooperation and exchange with research institutes in Linköping such as FOI (www.foi.se) and VTI (www.vti.se) and other organizations and enterprises.
