Ethics Research at LiU
What is right? What is wrong? How should we act? These are issues that in different ways are studied within ethics.

In normative ethics, the researcher analyzes arguments for and against various conceptions of right and wrong conduct. These may be general theories or tangible standpoints. The researchers also submit critical comments and constructive suggestions.
In the empirical ethics, the researcher examines what individuals and groups in society consider to be right and wrong through e.g., questionnaires or interviews.
The applied ethics - which can be both normative and empirical - focus on ethical problems that arise in various practical operational areas such as medicine, information technology, politics, economics, education and research.
In meta-ethics, the researcher analyzes what is meant by moral terms such as "right", "should" and "responsibility".
Linköping University's is home to the Centre for Applied Ethics, which conducts research projects on subjects such as global justice issues and bioethics. At the Division of Health and Society, research on bioethics takes place, and the Department of Behavioural Sciences and Learning is host to research on ethics in teaching and research. Meta-ethics is an area of research within philosophy.
