Center for Advanced Research in Emergency Response

Center for Advanced Research in Emergency Response, is a coPolisllaboration between Linköping University (LiU) and the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency which aims to consolidate and strengthen Liu's research in risk, response and rescue area.

CARER activities are primarily directed towards research and training to deal with society's response capacity in case of accidents, which includes everything from everyday accidents to the extraordinary events on local, national and global levels. It also an opportunity to combine and complement the traditional response resources, such as rescue and ambulance services, with other community resources including the individual.

Collaboration opportunities and difficulties between these different types of resources becomes an important element. The area is inherently interdisciplinary, spanning over three faculties (philosophical, medical and technical) and seven faculties.

New actors within response and rescue

New actors in response and rescue aims to explore the possibility and potential to increase the number of emergency actors outside the traditional emergency systems, and to increase the impact of these efforts.

System relationships: Event, response and consequence

System relationships: event, response and consequence aims to identify, investigate and model systems and relationships between events, response and consequence.
