Problem area
The research conducted within the Local And Regional Consortium addresses the ways in which the complexity of the energy system is managed with a view to designing and developing efficient, and socially and environmentally sustainable local and regional energy systems. The starting point for our research is the fact that any change in the energy system requires an understanding of both the technical/financial factors and the social processes that affect all technological change. This insight is an important foundation for the consortium’s research.
Our general area of research can be summarised in the following key questions:
How can local and regional energy systems be changed in the direction of greater sustainability? What strategies will contribute to changing local and regional energy systems in the direction of greater efficiency and sustainability?
Within the consortium we focus on these questions based on analyses of actors’ behaviours, political processes, and on technical, financial and institutional factors.
