VTI

VTI, Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute, is an independent and internationally prominent research institute within the transport sector. With about 190 employees VTI is the largest transport research environment in Sweden.


VTI carries out applied research and development in relation to all modes of transportation. The institute has a broad competence profile, with its key capabilities in the areas of safety, economy, environment, traffic- and transport analysis, public transport, behaviour and man-machine-transport system interaction, and in road design operation and maintenance. Our knowledge provides an enhanced decision base for the players in the transport sector, and in many cases it has direct application in international and national transport policy.

FOI

FOI is one of Europe’s leading research institutes in the defence and security area.

The agency is financed on contracts’ basis and is responsible to the ministry of defence. The core business is research, method and technology development and studies.
 
FOI is prominent when it comes to developing sensor systems such as radar, laser and optics with sophisticated image and signal processing. We carry out security policy studies and analyses, evaluate different types of threats and develop tools for, as an example, adaptation of society due to climate change. FOI develops systems for crisis management in connection with major accidents and catastrophic events. We develop control and command systems for the defence sector and for international peace-keeping efforts. We develop methods for the handling of dangerous substances and contribute to safer IT systems.

SKL

SKL's main task is to as impartial body of experts carry out investigations in criminal cases for judicial authorities.

SKL is equipped with advanced analytical and testing equipment, and has well-trained staff with skills to make qualified judgments and values of the analytical results are placed in their legal context. SKL is accredited to ISO / IEC 17025 for most of the investigations carried out.

At SKL works also with research, development, information, education, support and service throughout the forensic field. The work is largely done by ENFSI's working groups (European Network of Forensic Science Institutes), SKL has given a prominent international position.
