Name: João Pedro Jorge
Job: developer video effects at Framestone
Lives in: London
How did you end up studying at Linköping University?
- Connections! One of my professors at my university in Portugal where I did my undergraduate degree knew Aida Vitória, the coordinator for the master’s programme in advanced computer graphics, and suggested the programme to me.
What surprised you the most?
I was positively surprised by the informal teaching environment, the effort that teachers put into motivating students and the overall organization of the master’s programme.
What from your experiences at LiU has been most beneficial?
The Swedish informality and their easy-going way of dealing with teaching were great to experience and learn from. Besides that my teachers at LiU had strategic connections with renowned companies that in part helped me to land an internship.
What helped you to grow as an individual?
-I'd say the great intellects surrounding me, and also the challenge of being in a country with a language and culture so different from mine and my adaptation to it – even though I didn’t find adapting to be all that difficult.
Is there anything you would have done differently during your time at LiU?
-Perhaps learn more Swedish, I only had one short course in the language.
Do you have a special teacher or course or something else you remember fondly?
Yeah, in particular I remember my teachers Matt Cooper and Anders Ynnerman; they inspired me a lot and were both talented teachers.
